World Heritage Conferences

Schwerin World Heritage Conferences

The Schwerin World Heritage Conferences were established in 2015 as part of the sustainable management of the future World Heritage Site "Schwerin Residence Ensemble - Cultural Landscape of Romantic Historism". They ensure continuous research into the potential World Heritage Site and are intended to take Schwerin residents and visitors along on their way to the World Heritage Site.

The State capital Schwerin prepared in collaboration with the Ministry for Cultural Affaires and the State Parliament the first Schwerin World Heritage Conference from the 22nd to 23rd October 2015 in the Golden Hall of the Neustädtisches Palais.

For the second time, the State capital Schwerin organised in collaboration with the Ministry for Cultural Affaires and the State Parliament a Schwerin World Heritage Conference from the 13th to 14th October 2016 at the Golden Hall of the Neustädtisches Palais.

In collaboration with ICOMOS Germany, the third Schwerin World Heritage Conference examined the Residence Ensemble as an international expert meeting under the title: 

Palace – City – Garden. The Royal Residence as Historic Cultural Landscape

November 5th  – 7th, 2017

The conference took place in just renovated the plenary chamber of the Parliament of the State Mecklenburg – Western Pomerania. As the annual conference of ICOMOS Germany it accompanied the World Heritage application.

The forth Schwerin World Heritage Conference took place on the 15th to 16th of November, 2018 at the Golden Hall of the Neustädtisches Palais. It was again prepared by the State capital Schwerin organised in collaboration with the Ministry for Cultural Affaires and the State Parliament.
